The Eastern Churches have never regarded Christian Zionismas merely a theological divergence within the Christian family. Rather, theyhave viewed it as a grave distortion in the understanding of the sacredscripture and a troubling entanglement of religion within the core of a modernpolitical-colonial project. Wit

h the war on Gaza, this position has ceased to be anexpression of historical unease or an inherited intellectual objection. It hasevolved into a clear and forthright discourse, reflecting a conviction that theunfolding events no longer permit theological courtesy or moral ambiguity.
